Sheriff Richard “Richie” Skiles served as chief of police in Troy from 2013-2016. His law enforcement experience also includes 12 years with the Latah County Sheriff’s Office, where he has served as Sheriff since 2016.
U.S. Senator Mike Crapo will present Sheriff Skiles with a Spirit of Idaho Award to honor him for his dedicated service to his local community and the residents of the Syringa Mobile Home Park residents following the neighborhood court’s closure. He spent his own time, money and resources to help ensure their safety and wellbeing, going above and beyond the call of duty.
The Spirit of Idaho Award honors the acts of service by Idahoans for their commitment to improving their community and serving their fellow citizens. Senator Crapo has presented more than 600 SOI awards since the first presentation in Twin Falls in November of 2000.
