A
pollinator conference titled “Food for Bees, Food for you and Me” will
offer online and in-person events by University of Idaho Extension and
Rural Roots March 4 – 5 will focus on bees and their food sources on the
Palouse and beyond.
The
free summit will begin Monday, March 4, at 10 a.m. at the Latah County
Fair and Event Center main room at 1021 Harold St., Moscow. Steve
Sheppard, world-renowned Washington State University entomologist, will
open the conference with a presentation on his honey bee research
program, especially his collaboration with Fungi Perfecti. Other
speakers will present research findings on honey bees and native bees.
The
summit will include a Pollinator Expo on Tuesday, March 5 from 11am to 1
pm with table displays from local nonprofits and businesses with
pollinator habitat information and products.
The summit will close on the evening of March 5th with a showing of the film, “The Pollinators”
Doors
for the closing events will open at 6:00 p.m. at the University of
Idaho Potato Seed Lab. The event is free but donations will be accepted
at the door to cover the cost of the event.
Sponsors include UI Extension, Rural Roots, Moscow Food Co-op, Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute, and City of Moscow.
Further
instructions will be sent for in-person and the online Zoom option to
all who register. Donations to help pay for the event are also being
accepted on the registration link.
